Wallet permissions on Rivemont: what you approve and how to revoke it
Rivemont asks your wallet for three signatures. None of them moves money, costs gas or gives anyone the right to withdraw. Here is what each one allows, and how to take it back.
1. Sign in (a message)
A plain text message that names this site and your wallet. Signing it proves the wallet is yours and opens your Rivemont account (a new wallet gets a free account in the same step). It is not a transaction: it costs nothing and gives no permission over your funds.
2. A trade-only API wallet
When you connect Hyperliquid, your wallet approves an API wallet named rivemont that Rivemont creates for your account. Hyperliquid itself enforces what an API wallet can do:
- It can place and cancel orders in your Hyperliquid account. That is how your bots trade.
- It cannot withdraw and cannot send your money to another wallet. Hyperliquid does not accept a withdrawal from an API wallet.
Its private key is kept encrypted on Rivemont's server. Even if that key leaked, it could not withdraw your funds; it could trade in your account, which is why you can remove it at any time (below).
3. The builder fee cap
The second signature approves Rivemont's builder fee with a cap of 0.1% per fill, Hyperliquid's maximum for perpetuals. Rivemont charges from 0.1%, lower with your 30-day volume, and Hyperliquid refuses any order whose fee is above the cap you signed. How the fee is calculated.
What Rivemont never asks for
- Your seed phrase or your wallet's private key. Nobody from Rivemont will ever ask for them.
- A deposit to Rivemont. There is no Rivemont deposit address; your money stays in your own Hyperliquid account.
- A token approval or a transaction that sends funds anywhere.
How to stop and revoke
- One bot: in My bots press Stop, then close its position at market or keep it.
- Everything at once: in Settings press Stop everything. It stops every bot and signal, closes the positions they opened, and deletes Rivemont's exchange keys from our servers. Your funds stay in your account.
- On Hyperliquid itself: in Hyperliquid's app open More → API and remove the rivemont API wallet. From then on nothing can place orders through it, whatever happens on Rivemont's side.
- The fee approval: Hyperliquid lets your wallet sign a new builder fee approval of 0% for Rivemont's address; Rivemont has no button for that today. Without the API wallet Rivemont cannot place orders for you, so no Rivemont fee can be charged either.
What still carries risk
- Bots trade with your money and can lose it. Set the amount and the stop loss you are comfortable with.
- Your funds sit in Hyperliquid's smart contracts while they are there; Hyperliquid's own risks apply.
