Breakout bot
A Breakout bot watches the high and low of the last N candles.
More
When a candle closes above the high it buys (below the low, it sells), optionally waiting for a pullback first.
When to use it
When a market has been quiet in a range and you expect the next move out of it to run.
Settings
Every bot trades in your own Hyperliquid account. In the setup you pick the market, the amount and the leverage; Safe, Balanced and Aggressive fill in the rest from the coin's own volatility, and Customize settings opens every setting below. Rivemont's fee is from 0.1% per fill, lower with your 30-day volume, plus Hyperliquid's own trading fee.
- Side
- Long, short or both.
- Chart
- 5m, 15m, 1h, 4h or 1d. Longer charts give fewer, more meaningful breakouts.
- Look back
- How many candles make the range (2 to 500). More: a wider, older range that breaks less often.
- Confirm
- How many candles in a row must close beyond it (1 to 10). More: fewer false breakouts, later entries.
- Beyond by
- The close must be at least this % past the high or low.
- Pullback / Wait
- 0 enters at once; more waits with a limit order for a pullback this deep, for Wait candles.
- TP, SL (required) and Trailing
- Close at a profit, at a loss, or with a stop that follows the best price.
Example
BTC on the 4-hour chart, look back 20 candles, high $102,000. A candle closes at $102,400: the bot buys $500. With TP 5% and SL 2.5% it closes near $107,500 or $99,840.
What can go wrong
Many breakouts fail
and fall back into the range; the stop loss takes those losses.Fast markets slip
: a market entry after a strong candle can fill above the close.
