How to set up a grid bot on Hyperliquid stocks, gold and silver (HIP-3)
Hyperliquid lists stocks, gold and silver as perpetual futures (HIP-3 markets), quoted around the clock. A grid bot buys below the price and sells above it inside a range. This guide sets one up step by step, explains market hours, and shows today's backtests.
What HIP-3 markets are
HIP-3 markets are perpetual futures that other teams deploy on Hyperliquid, each in its own market group: trade.xyz's group lists xyz:TSLA, xyz:GOLD, xyz:SILVER and more. You trade them from the same Hyperliquid account and wallet, and each group sets its own leverage limits. Rivemont trades the groups that take USDC as margin.
Set up a HIP-3 grid bot in 6 steps
- Connect your walletSign in with your wallet: there is no account and no email. Approve Rivemont's API wallet, which can place and cancel orders but cannot withdraw, and the fee cap. Your money stays in your own Hyperliquid account.
- Make USDC available to the market groupWith a unified account on Hyperliquid there is nothing to do. A classic account keeps each market group's USDC apart: move USDC to the group in Assets (Exchanges, Hyperliquid, Market groups).
- Pick the market and the botOpen New bot, choose Grid and pick the market: GOLD, SILVER or a stock such as TSLA. On a stock or commodity you can choose the Market-hours grid instead (see below).
- Choose the direction and the rangeNeutral trades both ways inside the range; Long starts by buying, for a market you expect to rise; Short starts by selling, for one you expect to fall. The setup suggests a direction from the market's trend, and your own choice always wins. Then set the range, the number of grids and the leverage: every setting says what it is for.
- Check the backtestBefore it starts, your exact settings are replayed on the market's real Hyperliquid prices over 7 days, 30 days, 90 days or a year, with fees and funding, beside buy and hold. A backtest is a simulation, not a promise.
- Start it, then adjust it any timeStart the bot. In My bots you can pause it, change its settings, or stop it and either close its position at market or keep it.
Market hours and the Market-hours grid
TSLA follows a US stock market price. Hyperliquid quotes it around the clock, but most of its moves come while New York is open (9:30 to 16:00 New York time, Monday to Friday), and it can jump when trading opens after a night, a weekend or a holiday.
GOLD follows a commodity market, which pauses for about an hour each weekday and over the weekend. Hyperliquid quotes it around the clock, and the price can jump when the market opens again.
A plain grid keeps trading through all of those hours. The Market-hours grid knows when the market behind the price is open: a tighter grid while it is open, and out of hours it pauses new entries or uses wider steps, as you choose.
- Out of hours: Pause new entries (closing orders stay) or lay the grid again with wider steps.
- Close before the weekend: Closes everything a set number of minutes before the price stops for the weekend, and starts again when the market reopens.
- Gap guard: After the weekend it waits before opening new positions, and lays the grid again around the new price if the market opened far away.
Weekend gaps still happen: these settings limit them, they do not remove them.

Start opens the bot setup with the same preset, market and direction. You can change every setting there and see a fresh backtest before the bot starts.
Backtests replay the bot's own code on Hyperliquid's past prices, with fees and funding. Past results do not predict future results, and live fills can differ. Updated daily. Last run 2026-10-09 15:30 UTC. All backtests.
