Silver grid bot on Hyperliquid: settings, fees and a 30-day backtest

Silver trades on Hyperliquid as xyz:SILVER, quoted around the clock. A grid bot buys below the price and sells above it inside a range. Here is what each grid step costs, how a grid did on silver over the last 30 days, and why the same settings do not fit gold and silver.

xyz:SILVER is a HIP-3 market: a perpetual future that trade.xyz runs on Hyperliquid. You trade it from your own Hyperliquid account with USDC as margin, and Rivemont's bots trade it like any other Hyperliquid market. Its leverage limit is 25× today.

Fees first: the smallest grid step that pays

This market is in growth mode: Hyperliquid takes 90% off its HIP-3 fee.

A grid buys one line and sells one line higher (or the reverse on a short grid), so every step pays two fills. With resting limit orders that is Hyperliquid's maker fee and Rivemont's fee, twice: 0.106% of the order. A step narrower than that loses money even when it fills; the bot setup warns you before you start.

Silver and gold: why the same settings do not fit both

Over the same 30 days silver's price moved within a 13.8% range and gold's within 6.8%. A range and grid steps that suit one are too tight or too wide for the other: the Balanced preset sets each market's range and steps from its own recent moves, and the backtest shows the result on its own prices.

The settings that matter

  • Range: The lowest and highest price the grid trades. Outside it the bot places no new orders.
  • Number of grids: More lines mean smaller steps and more trades; each step must stay wider than one grid step's fees above.
  • Leverage: Higher leverage needs less margin but brings the liquidation price closer. The chart shows the liquidation line before you start.
  • Stop loss: Closes everything at market when the price passes it. Set it before the liquidation price, never beyond it.

Market hours and the Market-hours grid

SILVER follows a commodity market, which pauses for about an hour each weekday and over the weekend. Hyperliquid quotes it around the clock, and the price can jump when the market opens again.

A plain grid keeps trading through all of those hours. The Market-hours grid knows when the market behind the price is open: a tighter grid while it is open, and out of hours it pauses new entries or uses wider steps, as you choose.

  • Out of hours: Pause new entries (closing orders stay) or lay the grid again with wider steps.
  • Close before the weekend: Closes everything a set number of minutes before the price stops for the weekend, and starts again when the market reopens.
  • Gap guard: After the weekend it waits before opening new positions, and lays the grid again around the new price if the market opened far away.

Weekend gaps still happen: these settings limit them, they do not remove them.

What is the smallest amount?

Every order on Hyperliquid must be worth at least $10, so the amount must fill every grid line at that size. The setup shows the minimum for your settings.
