Running a grid bot on Tesla through earnings (Hyperliquid, October 21)

Tesla is expected to report its third-quarter 2026 results on Wednesday, October 21, after the US market close. Hyperliquid's Tesla perp, xyz:TSLA, keeps trading when Nasdaq is closed, so it moves on the news first. This page shows what a grid bot faces that week. It predicts nothing.

When the results land

After the close: 16:00 in New York, 20:00 UTC, on Wednesday, October 21, 2026. Check the time on Tesla's investor relations page; companies sometimes move the date.

What the Tesla perp does while Nasdaq is closed

xyz:TSLA is a HIP-3 market: a perpetual future that trade.xyz runs on Hyperliquid. You trade it from your own Hyperliquid account with USDC as margin, and Rivemont's bots trade it like any other Hyperliquid market. Its leverage limit is 20× today.

The results arrive when only the perp trades. Its price can move far before Nasdaq opens the next morning, and it can jump again when the stock market's price comes back at the open.

TSLA follows a US stock market price. Hyperliquid quotes it around the clock, but most of its moves come while New York is open (9:30 to 16:00 New York time, Monday to Friday), and it can jump when trading opens after a night, a weekend or a holiday.

A setup for the earnings week

  • A wider range, fewer grids: Room for a large move: each line is further apart, so a jump fills fewer lines at once.
  • A stop loss before the liquidation price: If the price leaves the range, the stop closes the position before liquidation can.
  • A small amount: A jump can pass a stop and fill at a worse price. Use money you can afford to lose.
  • After the report: Stop the bot, or set the range again around the new price.

Fees first: the smallest grid step that pays

This market is in growth mode: Hyperliquid takes 90% off its HIP-3 fee.

One grid step, both fills
0.106%

A grid buys one line and sells one line higher (or the reverse on a short grid), so every step pays two fills. With resting limit orders that is Hyperliquid's maker fee and Rivemont's fee, twice: 0.106% of the order. A step narrower than that loses money even when it fills; the bot setup warns you before you start.

Read from Hyperliquid on 2026-10-10 (UTC); your own Hyperliquid volume tier and Rivemont's volume tiers lower them.

The settings that matter

  • Range: The lowest and highest price the grid trades. Outside it the bot places no new orders.
  • Number of grids: More lines mean smaller steps and more trades; each step must stay wider than one grid step's fees above.
  • Leverage: Higher leverage needs less margin but brings the liquidation price closer. The chart shows the liquidation line before you start.
  • Stop loss: Closes everything at market when the price passes it. Set it before the liquidation price, never beyond it.

Can a bot tell which way Tesla will move?

No. A grid does not predict: it buys lower and sells higher inside the range you set, and it loses when the price leaves the range and stays away.

What is the smallest amount?

Every order on Hyperliquid must be worth at least $10, so the amount must fill every grid line at that size. The setup shows the minimum for your settings.
